Well, I'm not sure on this. My first critic is that you use a centered composition - something that doesn't go well in most times and so in this pic, too. Better try a composition of thirds. Then, He stands half in light half in dark - just try to take a photo in mid-shadow or sun to avoid uver-or underexposed parts. Ant the facts that he is just "snading there, still" doesn't make it better. I'm sure he likes to play with other dogs, just let them play, let them run, take your tele-lens and get some photos of him jumping, running, rolling over the floor, being funny . Or just wait until he does something he likes to. But just "standing there" doesn't say anything about his personality. And last but not least i would have taken him bigger - he looks a little bit alone in that picture, your "Kayan in the Fall" is much better here.

yeah.. i agreed with Phryneas.
the background here take away the focus of the dog.... so you can either make the dog big and throw the bg out of focus.

Phryneas, I agree with you after looking at it and you make good points. I don't take any of what you said as rude or offensive, that's why I am posting on this stie, so that I can learn more about photography and design in general. I agree with the above...but nice photo...I would as Phryneas said to place it a little more far from the center...
